PARLATORIA CAMELLIAE Comstock DETECTION ON CAMELLIA IN GALICIA

In 2007 a new scale insect species was added to the high diversity of species present in Galicia belonging to this super-family. This species is Parlatoria camelliae, diaspine with purple females and oval shields, flat shape and white-greyish to brown coloration. So far, apart from the detection of the pest, no damage was observed on the colonized species. This species impedes plant organ respiration due to the shields and for the emission of a toxic saliva for the plant
